So - I'm a broken record, but - Faith is anything you believe that you do not need to prove; it is fundamental to you... science, religion, history, ... facts.
I noticed the courts took someone's faith into consideration... and their facts, which is disturbing. Let me explain:
If I have faith that an election was stolen.. actions that I take based on this faith will be judged and taken into consideration.
Every science book is a faith based book... some people organize information, facts, processes, etc... to help people gain faith; science is very much a solution to getting people to have strong faith in very complicated things. Repeatable and Observable is the nature of science... but, I digress...
There was a court case about intelligent design being taught in classes in place of evolution and the like... they are both written in good faith, that the authors are honestly attempting to explain something to the reader.
Philosophy of Science... says that this court case was argued incorrectly, but came to the correct conclusions. Faith is required for everything we do... you've seen something a million times, you have faith you'll see it a million and one times if you test it. But; until you 'test' it, you can not be certain the laws of the universe have not changed somehow.
No Scientist can prove that God did not create the world three seconds ago; complete with all of your memories, fossil records... a completely unknowable, untestable idea. And, again I repeat myself, perhaps god uses save states... and we cannot even tell it is happening.
In any event - people get too caught up trying to own words like "faith" and "belief" ... these things are equal regardless of how you reach this point.
We wouldn't have to explain existentialism to people if it was not the case; this is no longer "I think therefor I am" ... we've moved past Descartes... and his cartesian plane... which gave us so much, for so long. Now, we are in the philosophical desert.
Just Do.
